Development of micro‐form‐fitted amorphous thermoplast/light metal hybrid components

Abstract In order to meet the high demands on tolerances and surface qualities, for example in automotive lighting applications, a hybrid part composed of light metal (aluminium) an amorphous thermoplastic (polycarbonate) could be alternative established mono‐materials used today. Due lack adhesion promoter systems joining this specific material combination, micro‐form‐fitted connection by creating undercut microstructures laser ablation is achieve full‐surface bond. First investigations are carried out ensure filling these with different polycarbonate moulding compounds over injection process. Subsequently, influence compound, structure arrangement pickling treatment bond strength analysed tensile shear testing.
